Saturday...oh sweet Saturday

Another glorious weekend is here. Just got through teaching another workshop and had a good turnout. What to do the rest of the day...that is the question.

I am sure I'll hit some yard sales and thrift stores. With luck I'll find something of value...then it's off to Ebay it goes.

By the way...I had another one of those dreams of her just 2 days ago. In this one...she was going to get married to a guy from Hawai'i in October or November. Not a very pleasent dream for me...as it seemed to last forever. Thank god it was only a dream. I still am having shivers from it today. I wish she would...at least once...call, write or something. Even if it is just to say she hates my guts and wish I would drop dead. At least that would be something and I would not have to torture myself always wondering and dreaming. To suffer in slience is one of the great punishments of this world. Sigh........

The 3rd and 4th of July

The 3rd of July was spent with my cousin and his brother's 12 year old son out in Riverside County on a reptile hunting expedition. Great day for hunting herps. It was alot of fun exploring the back roads and desert areas. Didn't find much all day...mainly a small tarantula. But...at about 10:30 at night coming back from the trip...right in the middle of a well used paved road was a excellent California Desert King Snake. A beautiful black and whited banded one. It was about half grown. It would have surely been run over...as the traffic was heavy and most people try and hit snakes they see in the road. I jumped out and picked it up. Very docile and non-aggressive. That made the whole trip worth it.

For the 4th of July, I spent the day with my other cousin and his family. We watched movies, ate some good food and then lit several large boxes of fireworks. California has some peculiar fireworks laws. Some cities allow then...some don't. Long Beach has a complete moratorium on any fireworks, but the neighboring city of Lake wwod allows them. So you go across the street into Lakewood, and light away. Needless to say, the Long Beach police are busy all night looking for violators. We saw one incident where someone in Long Beach was firing off some large...and illegal...fireworks. One of them almost hit a police helicopter flying overheard. Just like that the chopper had its spotlight on the offenders and turned its' air siren on. Police cars were there in a matter of minutes. Better them than us.

Well...I sure hope Alma and her family had a great 4th of July. Here is to you...of whom my best wishes go.
